Birthday Weekend!

Sorry I've been MIA this past week. In case you didn't know last Sunday, March 10, was my birthday. I went up to Atlanta and spent the weekend at The Ritz-Carlton, went shopping with my cousin, Lauren, ate dinner with Lauren at Seven Lamps and then ate brunch with more family at Brio.
I got worn out just typing all that. I'll start out a little before my birthday. My dad's birthday was on Thursday, March 7. So we decided to go out to eat at one of his long time favorite local restaurants, Sapphire Grill. Here is the link to their website if you want to know more about it Also, shout out to our awesome waitress, Courtney! She took the time to write down the dishes so I could remember everything and was one of my favorites waitresses in a long time. :) If you are in the Savannah area and want a nice upscale restaurant I highly recommend checking out Sapphire Grill.

Our appetizer was:
Bone Marrow with Diver Scallops, Rutabaga Puree and an Apple Chutney.
Bone marrow is considered a delicacy and can actually have a lot of health benefits (Read here about that). It is creamy and unctuous  and goes perfectly with the scallops. I know most people are hesitant to try something like this but I promise it is absolutely amazing and nothing like you are probably envisioning.

My mother's entree:
Sapphire Grill's signature dish. Benne Encrusted Grouper over Jasmine Rice and Wok Seared Veggies.

My dad's entree:
Bouillabaisse with Shrimp, Clams, Lobster, Scallops, Octopus and Grouper. A seafood lovers dream.

My Entree:
Tuna Mignon with Red and Gold Beets over Long Grain Rice with a Sweet Chili dipping sauce. It was fantastic. I love pretty much any tuna but this paired with the dipping sauce was out standing!

Finally they brought out a plate the had "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate and 3 chocolate covered strawberries for our dessert since we didn't order off the dessert menu.

On Saturday after shopping in Atlanta we went out to dinner at a restaurant called Seven Lamps. A new comer in Atlanta's dining scene offering a fresh selection of craft food and drinks. Here is the website link so you can get a feel for it. It was reminiscent of wd-50 and I adored it! Sorry I can't remember everything in the dishes. The menu is not the same online so I have to work from 2 week old memory here.

They make their own soda's at Seven Lamps and I ordered the "FO" Orange Cream Soda.
For an appetizer we ordered a platter of oysters. They offer East and West Coast oysters and it's served with homemade aged hot sauce, horseradish mignonette, and salted crackers.

My entree was:
A Wood Roasted Chicken Breast with Giardiniera Vegetables,  Grilled and Fresh Pickles,  Happy Egg and a Mustard Vinaigrette. I love most chicken dishes and this was no exception. Absolutely divine!

My Mother's Entree:
Smoked Ruby Beets, Medjool Dates, Bacon Jam, Fennel, and Bucheron Cheese.

(Sorry for the blurry pic)
Lauren's Entree:
Idaho Potato Gnocchi, Wild Mushrooms and Fennel.

My Dad's Entree:
Wood Roasted Bramlett Farms Trout with Shrimp over Rice.

Lauren's Dessert:
Fruity Pebbles Push Pop with Raspberry Sherbet and Creme Fraiche Ice Cream

My Dessert:
Brown Butter Cake with Gingerbread Crumbs and Creme Fraiche Ice Cream.
Last but certainly not least on Sunday, my actual birthday, we ate brunch at Brio with some more family. I got too busy talking and didn't take pictures of the food but here is a picture of me with Lauren, Will and Jamey after lighting my birthday cake. Will and Jamey's mom, Kerry, brought the cake for us. It was a caramel cake and it was so decadent! I absolutely loved it! It was from a bakery in Atlanta called Piece of Cake. It tastes just like homemade and if you live in the area I would definitely recommend them. Again here is the link to check them out .

This was definitely one of if not the best birthdays I've had. I had such a great time being in Atlanta shopping, eating out, and of course being with family. I will definitely be back up and running again with more consistent blogs. Just had to recover from my trip. :) Let me know if you are interested in a part 2 about the other parts of my trip and maybe a birthday haul. If so leave a comment below and I will be happy to write  and post it on my other blog that I'm starting for more personal posts.
